Children explore turtles, snakes and other critters at Elgin’s Nature Night March 19 with naturalist Cathy Akin Stewart. The hands-on experience was one of five spring break activities hosted by Elgin Parks & Recreation, now gearing up for more community events with the return of Music in the Park. The concert series will be held every Friday night in April and May at Veterans Memorial Park, with the season kicking off April 4. Opening act TJ Clay takes the stage at 6 p.m., followed by the cumbia mix of Huerta Culture.
