Lana Elaine Schorr Guckian

Lana Elaine Schorr Guckian, of Elgin, passed away in the morning Jan. 2, 2023, at 55 years of age. Lana was born on March 30, 1967, in Austin to Lowell and Georgia Schorr. Lana’s lived most of her life in the Elgin area. She attended Elgin schools, graduating from Elgin High with the Class of ’85. While in school, she loved being a part of the rifle guard, playing in the band and on the volleyball and basketball teams.  

Lana began her career at Texas Hospital Association, then went onto work with PCA Health Plans, then moved forward to JI, and received a great job with Google.  

On Feb. 24, 1990, she married Howard Guckian, and together they raised their two sons. She loved her family and grandchildren and cherished every moment she spent with them.  

She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Schorr; her paternal grandparents, Paul and Ruth Schorr and maternal grandparents, George and Marie Burden.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Guckian; her two sons, Bryan Guckian and wife, Gabrielle, and Kevin Guckian; her grandchildren, Grace, William, and Olivia Guckian, all of Tennessee; her brother, Ron Schorr and wife, Donna, of Midlothian; her two sisters, Lisa and husband, Robert Ramirez, and Laura and husband, Tim McCarty, all of Elgin; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Lana was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was cherished by everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and will remain in our hearts and thoughts forever.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Ascension Seton Hospital for the loving care given to our daughter, wife, sister, mother and Nana.  

Family and friends gathered at Elgin Funeral Home for visitation Friday, Jan. 6, from 6 until 7 p.m., followed by a celebration of Lana’s life at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask the memorial contributions be made in Lana’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
