BASTROP – The annual Bastrop Bears youth basketball camp was held last week at Bastrop High School, as boys varsity basketball head coach Eric Woods hosted three separate camps June 19-22.
“The brotherhood got stronger this week,” Woods said. “Shoutout to all of our young Bears who came out to our basketball camp. It was an awesome four days of fun, fundamentals and free throws. Our future is in great hands.”
There were three separate levels, one for third through sixth graders, another for seventh and eighth graders and the last camp just for ninth graders.
Each camp focused on player development with dribbling, passing, shooting, leadership skills and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the week.
Bastrop youth campers will have some time off before the next camps in July. The next four-day camp on deck will be for the Lady Bears volleyball program July 10-13 with three different sessions, 8 to 10 a.m. for incoming third through sixth graders, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for seventh and eighth graders and 1 to 3 p.m. for ninth graders.
The camps will be at the Bastrop High School main and secondary gyms and cost $50 for each session.
