BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team started off district play on a very high note as the Lady Bears swept Pflugerville in three straight sets on Friday night: 25-20, 25-21 and 25-17 to seal the deal.
This was just what the Lady Bears needed under head coach Morgan Rollins as this team looks to make a run back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021 after just missing out last season. Led by senior Olivia Altamirano and Laicey Sullivent, this Bastrop squad appears to be on the right track going forward.
The Lady Bears also won earlier this season in a back-andfor th tournament match against the Lady Panthers as Bastrop competed in three tournaments throughout August against bigger schools to help prepare for district play.
This team has a lot of talent and the Lady Bears continue to show that as they are able to string together quality wins on their home floor.
Following another district home match on Tuesday night hosting Pflugerville Hendrickson High School, the grind continues for Bastrop as the Lady Bears travel at 6:30 p.m. on Friday to take on Georgetown East View High School. Bastrop will then be back at home at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 to take on Pflugerville Connally High School.
