BASTROP — The Cedar Creek High School girls varsity basketball team was victorious Nov. 3 at home in the 2023-24 regular- season opener as the Lady Eagles rallied for an impressive 56-37 win over the Lady Cardinals of Del Valle High School.

Despite Cedar Creek trailing early in the third quarter to Del Valle, the Lady Eagles took the lead in the third quarter and then surged with a dominant fourth quarter for a 19-point victory.

Against Del Valle, the Lady Eagles were led by sophomore standout Keyaira Limuel Washington. She had a sensational game and outscored Del Valle on her own with a game-high 39 points, 20 rebounds, seven steals and five blocked shots to propel Cedar Creek to victory.

The Lady Eagles got some timely three-point shooting on the night from fellow sophomore Jaslene Flores, while juniors Elisah Sanchez and Silvia Castillo Hernandez also made a major impact defensively for Cedar Creek on Friday against Del Valle as the Lady Cardinals could not get in a rhythm at all offensively down the stretch of the game.

Following Cedar Creek’s first road game Tuesday night against Austin Navarro High School, the Lady Eagles will return home Nov. 11 to host Austin Eastside Early College High School and again Nov. 14 for a home contest against Austin Travis High School.
