Lady Eagles beat rival Bastrop

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek and Bastrop High School girls varsity basketball teams squared off Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Cedar Creek High School in the 5A-District 23 opener for both teams and the Lady Eagles used a big second half to beat the Lady Bears by a score of 58-33.

BASTROP — The Cedar Creek and Bastrop High School girls varsity basketball teams squared off Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Cedar Creek High School in the 5A-District 23 opener for both teams and the Lady Eagles used a big second half to beat the Lady Bears by a score of 58-33.

Following a 7-7 tie at the end of the first quarter, Cedar Creek outscored Bastrop 13-5 in the second quarter to take a 20-18 lead into halftime.

The offense for the Lady Eagles really got going in the second half as Cedar Creek under Head Coach Erica Cray outscored Bastrop 19-10 and 19-11 in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. This game was dominated by Cedar Creek sophomore Keyaira Limuel Washington as she went off for a game-high 44 points on 19-of-29 shooting from the floor, 16 rebounds, four steals, two blocked shots and one assist. Lady Eagles junior Elisah Sanchez also had eight points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in the win over the Lady Bears.

Bastrop got double-digit scoring on the night from sophomore Kenadee Lawhon with a team-high 13 points, eight steals, four rebounds and one assist. Lady Bears fellow sophomore Addison Moore added six points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

After Cedar Creek travels Dec. 12 to take on Pflugerville High School, the Lady Eagles will remain on the road Friday to Georgetown East View High School. Bastrop under Head Coach La Barbera Roberson is scheduled Dec. 12 to host Georgetown High School and then hit the road Friday for another district game against Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.
