Eagles pick up two district wins

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team continued its push through 5A-District 23 play this past week as the Eagles picked up victories over Bastrop High School and Pflugerville High School.

BASTROP — The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team continued its push through 5A-District 23 play this past week as the Eagles picked up victories over Bastrop High School and Pflugerville High School.

CEDAR CREEK EAGLES 80, BASTROP BEARS 46

It was an easy victory Jan. 17 for the Eagles over their rivals as Cedar Creek cruised to an 80-46 triumph at home over the Bastrop Bears.

Cedar Creek standout senior Robert Conrad continued his strong 2023-24 season as he led the way with a game-high 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor, three assists, two rebounds and one steal. Eagles junior Kenji Franklin also had a solid all-around game in a double-double effort with 19 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one blocked shot.

Senior Micah McDonald also scored in double figures against Bastrop with 12 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists, while junior Braydon Adams knocked down a trio of three-pointers en route to nine points.

CEDAR CREEK EAGLES 58, PFLUGERVILLE PANTHERS 45

Cedar Creek also got the job done on the road Jan. 19 as the Eagles took care of business with a 58-45 victory against the Pflugerville Panthers. Franklin and Conrad could not be stopped by Pflugerville as the duo combined to score 46 of the Eagles’ points. Franklin led all scorers with a game-high 25 points to go along with six rebounds and five blocks, while Conrad had 21 points on three shots made from behind the arc, five rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Cedar Creek (19-8 overall, 4-3 in district) under Head Coach Valentino Maxwell will continue its district slate this week with games scheduled Jan. 23 hosting Pflugerville Hendrickson High School and Jan. 26 on the road at Georgetown East View High School.
