The Elgin High School varsity baseball team is set to begin the 2024 regular season this week, as the Wildcats return a large core of players from last year’s area finalist team.
Elgin has concluded its preseason scrimmages and will enter the regular season Feb. 22-24 at the Waco Tournament. The Wildcats will have five tourney games against Killeen Shoemaker High School, Waco Connally High School, Lorena High School, Waco University High School and conclude the weekend against Waco High School.
A few returning players to keep an eye on this season will be senior Nathen Lewis, senior Alex Gamez, junior Jalen Owens, junior Jack Grames, junior Austin Miller and junior Jackson Clowdus.
Elgin under Head Coach Jason Bourgeois will then have an upcoming non-district game Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. against Hutto High School. Next month, the Wildcats will compete at the Llano Tournament and Leander ISD Tournament.
