THEATER: DROWSY CHAPERONE THE MUSICAL BASTROP — The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical, featuring oneshow-stopping song and dance number after another at the historic Bastrop Opera House, 711 Spring St. in Bastrop. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record:thecastrecording of a fictitious 1928 musical. 18TH ANNUAL SMITHVILLE FLY-IN SMITHVILLE — Enjoy family friendly fun at the 18th annual Smithville Fly-In at Smithville’s municipal airport (84R), 789 Texas 95 south in Smithville. Event includes airplanes and pilots flying in from all over, helicopters and rides, static displays, barbecue and a candy drop for the kids. Event is free, but lunch and helicopter rides have a charge. Event hosted by Friends of 84R.

BLOW YOUR OWN GLASS
BASTROP — Learning the art of glass blowing is a great way to spend Mother’s Day Saturday at the Lost Pines Art Center, 1204 Chestnut in Bastrop. All are welcome, ages 14 and older, to create a small wine tumbler made of blown glass, that you heat andshapeinyourchoiceof colors in a 30-minute session withinstructorManda Barnes. One person per slot, but others can watch from the shaded bleachers in front of the beautiful glassblowing silo, located onthebacklawnoftheArt Center.
