A Bastrop County business owner and community figure took home gold at the 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards earlier this year.
Heart of Texas Chamber of Commerce President Mark Anthony Baca gained recognition for his role in the sports documentary series “Heroes,” which received Outstanding Sports Feature at the recent 20232024 Emmy Awards.
Commissioned by the NFL Network, the series portrays real-life athletes who risked their lives to help others. The joint endeavor involved directors and producers Trent Cooper, Addison Neville, Alec Mahon and Baca himself.
In addition to his role as the new Chamber president for the Bastrop area, Baca, a Panhandle native, lives in Pflugerville and operates a film and stunt company in McDade.
He has 30 years in the film industry, with a career that includes not only his Emmy win but numerous acting and stunt-coordinating awards.
“Heroes” is produced by Neonor Inc.
According to officials, Baca’s expertise in stunt coordination was crucial in ensuring the series’ stunts were safe and realistic, while his production management kept the project on time and within budget.
Baca began his Hollywood career with roles in “Kickboxer 4” and the kids’ TV series “Wishbone” in the early 1990s. He has worked on over 100 films, including a co-starring role in John Schneider’s “To Die For” and leading roles in “6 Wheels from Hell” on Amazon and “Nowhere Land.”
His stunt-coordination skills were honed under the mentorship of the late Pete Porteous.
Airing on NFL 360, “Heroes” received acclaim for its storytelling and stunts.
In addition to acting and filmmaking, Baca offers team-building and corporate event opportunities through his company, GoExFo, allowing participants to become action heroes for a day.
Baca is also creating a reality TV show titled “Last Stuntman Standing,” set to begin filming in 2025.
Baca said he also is committed to mentoring children and adults through his Guardian anti-bullying, domestic violence and suicide-prevention programs. To learn more, visit www.goexfo. tech.
