HAUNTED HOUSE ELGIN – Join the VFW at 118 Sayers Road for a Trunk or Treat event from 6 to 9 p.m. Music, movies and a haunted house will keep attendees thrilled while children score all the candy they can carry.

ELGIN – For help stockpiling candy, the First Baptist Church of Elgin will be hosting a Trunk or Treat event at 13916 County Line Road, from 6 to 8 p.m.

ELGIN – Jesus, the Alpha and Omega presents Lights Unhidden, a free event at 511 E. Sixth St. with candy bags, sausage wraps and games. Bring children along for a safe and fun time, 6 to 8 p.m.

VETERANS DAY PARADE
ELGIN – The city’s Veterans Day Parade will stroll down Main Street Nov. 2, starting at 10 a.m., followed by a Veterans Reception at VFW Post 6115, 118 Sayers Road.

LATINO HERITAGE EXHIBIT ELGIN – The Elgin Depot Museum opens up its new permanent Elgin Latino Heritage display at 11 a.m. Nov. 2. A recognition long overdue, the exhibit contains a collection of photos, stories and historical records.

CHILI COOK OFF ELGIN – Operation Turkey Elgin is raising funds for its big day with Chili for a Cause Nov. 9 at Lo-Fi Coffee House and Studio, 30 N. Main St. The chili cook off starts at 1 p.m., 50% of donated proceeds will go to Operation Turkey and 50% goes towards a charity of the winner’s choice.
