Looking to build on last year’s success after reaching the area round of the playoffs, Elgin’s varsity baseball team is set to take the field for the 2025 season.

With a strong core of returning players, Head Coach Jason Bourgeois and the Wildcats have their sights set on an even deeper postseason run this year.

Elgin’s lineup will be anchored by senior Jalen Owens and sophomore Dylan Owens, who are expected to provide leadership at the plate.

On the mound, the Wildcats return key arms in seniors Jack Grames, Fernando Ramirez and Joaquin Rodriguez, giving them a solid foundation on the pitching staff.

The Wildcats will open their season with several tournament matchups, beginning with their first game against Cedar Ridge Wednesday, Feb. 20. They will then compete in the Llano Tournament from Feb. 27-28, followed by the Battle of the Bay, March 6-7.

District play starts with a Hendrickson matchup, but Elgin’s biggest challenge will come March 24-28 when they face defending district champion Georgetown — undefeated in district play last season.

With a mix of experienced upperclassmen and emerging young talent, the Wildcats will look to establish themselves as a serious contender this time around.
