TX INDEPENDENCE JAM
MCDADE — Rising Sun Vineyard and Yegua Creek Brewery will kick off its 12th annual Texas Independence Day Jam Feb. 28 in McDade, 233 Edmonson Ranch Road. The three day event will feature 15 bands and offstage jam sessions, with free dry camping available on site. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged for food, staff and Bastrop Live Music Foundation support. Music starts Friday at noon, more information at risingsunvineyard.com.

BASTROP — Celebrate Women's History Month and Texas Independence Day with historian Michal Hubbard as they highlight the remarkable women who shaped Bastrop County’s history. The talk takes place March 1 from 1-2 p.m. at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center and is free with museum admission.

BASTROP — “Urinetown: The Musical” continues its stay at the Bastrop Opera House Feb. 28 through March 2, under the direction of Jonathan Young. This Tony Awardwinning satire tackles politics, capitalism and social irresponsibility with humor and heart as a hero challenges a corrupt system controlling the city’s water. AIRING OF THE QUILTS
BASTROP — Complimenting the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center’s Stitched Exhibit is the Airing of the Quilts. The local area tradition sees quilts displayed across downtown businesses, with a brochure available at the museum detailing each piece’s unique story and location. Raffle tickets for a donated antique quilt from the 1920s can be purchased at the museum.
