Smithville’s Lady Tigers brought home a string of podium finishes from the Thrall Tiger Relays March 27.
In varsity action, Addison Waneck sprinted to victory in the 400 and 800 meter runs, then anchored the 4x400 relay team—alongside Mia Deleon, Kylie Jones and Cassie Barina—to a first-place finish.
Barina also placed fourth in the 400-meter race and Emorie Jones claimed fourth in 1600 meters.
In field events, Briyanna Sampson dominated the jumps with gold in both the long jump and triple jump. Teammate Brityn Roberts added a silver in the triple jump to round out the varsity medal count.
Junior varsity runners also made their mark—Melany Villalobos took second in the 3200 meters and fourth in the 1600, while Elaynah Romero finished third in the 3200. Kimberly Ibarra earned bronze in both the 400 and 800-meter races.
