The 21st District Court of Bastrop recently granted a plea to the jurisdiction and motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed against City Manager Thomas Mattis from February of last year.

Edward Perez, 73, of Elgin, passed away peacefully Dec. 2.
Rose Marie (Raschke) Travis went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at the age of 63.
Jimmy Bryan Beauchamp, age 70, of Elgin passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 8, 2023. He was born Oct. 24, 1953, in Austin, and was the second son of James and Lorene Beauchamp.
Joyce Elaine Snell, 95, of Elgin passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023.
SCHULENBURG – The Smithville High School boys varsity basketball team went on the road Tuesday, Dec. 5 and the Tigers got a key 47-38 victory over Schulenburg High School.
The Elgin High School boys varsity basketball team was able to continue its strong start to the 2023-24 regular season, as the Wildcats picked up a 54-49 victory at home Dec. 4 over Cedar Park Vista Ridge High School. The Wildcats also got victories Dec. 7 over Manor New Tech High School and Austin Royals HomeSchool at the Taylor Tournament.
