DEL VALLE – The Elgin High School girls varsity powerlifting team had its final meet before regionals Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Lady Wildcats lifted at the Lady Cardinal Invitational hosted by Del Valle High School.

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity softball team started its 2024 season off with a bang this past week as the Lady Bears went 5-2.

SMITHVILLE – The Smithville High School varsity softball team put together a strong first week as the Lady Tigers opened their 2024 campaign with multiple games.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team concluded 5A-District 23 play on a high note Tuesday, Feb. 13, as the Eagles beat Pflugerville High School 54-49 in the regular-season finale.

ALTAIR – The Smithville High School girls varsity basketball team had its 2023-24 season come to an end Monday, Feb. 12, as the Lady Tigers were defeated 56-37 by Houston Yates High School in the 4A bi-district round of the playoffs held at neutral site Rice Consolidated High School.

The Elgin High School boys varsity basketball team finished its 2023-24 season Tuesday, Feb. 13 with a 67-46 loss at home in the 5A-District 23 finale to Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.

On Ash Wednesday, the Christian Church enter the forty-day season of Lent. What is Lent for? It is a time of 1) self-examination, 2) repentance, and 3) renewal by the reception of God’s grace in Christ. We subject ourselves to examination in the light of God’s Word; we are brought to repentance through His Word; and ask Him to renew our life of faith and prayer with His Word and Sacraments, as we prepare for the joyful holy day of Easter and for the seven weeks of the Easter season.
