The Elgin High School boys varsity basketball team finished its 2023-24 season Tuesday, Feb. 13 with a 67-46 loss at home in the 5A-District 23 finale to Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.
Despite a slow start in the first half, the Wildcats closed the gap in the third quarter but the visiting Hawks were able to pull away again down the stretch of the game.
In the loss for Elgin, junior Amar Bermudez led the way with a solid all-around game with a team-high 15 points, four steals, three assists, two rebounds and one blocked shot.
Wildcats senior Nathen Lewis also scored in double figures with 13 points, one rebound and one assist against Hendrickson.
Elgin, under Head Coach David Wilson, finished the season with a 16-12 overall and was No. 7 in the standings with a 4-10 record in a highly competitive district with Georgetown High School, Hendrickson, Pflugerville Connally High School and Cedar Creek High School all making the playoffs this year.
