BASTROP — The Bastrop High School varsity softball team started its 2024 season off with a bang this past week as the Lady Bears went 5-2.
After the Lady Bears opened the season with a resounding 19-0 victory Feb. 13 at Giddings High School, Bastrop competed Feb. 15-17 at the Killeen Invitational tournament.
Bastrop had a 4-2 record in Killeen as the Lady Bears were edged 1-0 by Georgetown Gateway College Preparatory School, bounced back with a 15-0 shutout victory over Waco High School, fell 4-0 to Leander Glenn High School, ground out a 3-2 win against Gatesville High School, a 3-0 triumph versus Killeen Shoemaker High School and ended the tournament on a very high note with a 20-4 rout of Killeen Ellison High School.
Following a scheduled Feb. 20 non-district road game at Wimberley High School, the Lady Bears, under Head Coach Teresa Morgan, will remain on the road Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. against San Antonio Veterans Memorial High School.
