Jesus Ramos Solorzano, 59, of Hutto, formerly of Michoacan, Mexico, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023.

Hilda Martha Neidig, 91, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 19, 2023, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephew, and met her newest great-great granddaughter. She lived a very full life of 91 years, 3 months and 21 days. She was born, the youngest of three girls, April 19, 1932.

Micah Ellis, 38, of Elgin, passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 20, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Jessica Ellis. Services will be private.

Galen Vernon Griffin, 50, of Austin, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023.

Bessie (Morgan) Dube, 83, fell asleep in Jesus and entered eternal life with God the Holy Trinity Monday, Aug. 14, 2023. She was born to Odell and Marie Morgan Oct. 22, 1939.

Christopher Royce Fuentes passed away at the age of 35, Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Christopher was born March 3, 1988, he was the oldest child of German Alfredo Fuentes and Melissa Fuentes, husband to Geraldine Jimenez Fuentes, and was a lifelong resident of the Elgin community.

LC Lee, 89, of Killeen, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 18, 2023.

BASTROP – Bastrop High School was the site of the annual BISD Classic tournament on Aug. 17-19 as the Lady Bears varsity volleyball team picked up multiple victories last week. Elgin High School and Cedar Creek High School also competed in the tournament.

The Elgin High School varsity football team had preseason action on Friday, Aug. 18 as the Wildcats hosted Canyon Lake High School for a scrimmage at Wildcat Stadium.

The Lord’s good and gracious will is revealed above all in Jesus’ Passion, when a weak and trembling Jesus prayed to His Father and then was betrayed into the hands of sinful men to die. We find Jesus in dark Gethsemane sorrowful and troubled, even to the point of His sacred heart failing right then and there. The weight of the world’s sins pressed down mightily upon Him; He fell upon His face in weakness and trembling, begging, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me.” The cup Jesus spoke of was the cup of His Father’s wrath against all the sin of the world. God’s wrath is His unmitigated anger, a furious outpouring of condemnation, the fires and torments of hell.

It is important to note that an arrest should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
