Elgin, Bastrop and Cedar Creek will have various sports activities return next week following some time off leading up to the Fourth of July break.

ELGIN

Although the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats have a tentative open weight room on July 5-6, they will return to full activities beginning on July 10 at the high school. Speed, agility and strength have been the focus for Elgin sports this summer as athletes from seventh through 12th graders are up bright and early for conditioning with Wildcats athletic director and head football coach Heath Clawson and his staff at the helm. Since the beginning of June, boys and girls athletes have come out Monday through Thursday mornings to put in work to get better heading into the 2023 fall sports season.

High school boys will participate from 7–8:45 a.m. on Monday through Thursday, while 8–9:45 a.m. will be for all middle schoolers and the high school girls group.

Forms for upcoming camps as well as strength and conditioning must be turned in to Elgin athletics administrative assistant Erica Helton at the athletics office.

BASTROP

The next four-day camp on deck for Bastrop will be for the Lady Bears youth volleyball program July 10-13 with three different sessions, 8–10 a.m. for incoming third through sixth graders, 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for seventh and eighth graders and 1–3 p.m. for ninth graders.

The camps will be at the Bastrop High School main and secondary gyms and cost $50 for each session. For more information, contact Bastrop varsity volleyball head coach Morgan Rollins via email at mrollins@ bisdtx.org.

CEDAR CREEK

Boys youth basketball camp is on the radar for Cedar Creek as the Eagles will also host a four-day camp of their own from July 10–13 at the high school gym for incoming third through ninth graders.

The camp will be divided into two sessions per day: 9–11:30 a.m. for skill development and 12:30–3 p.m. for the team practice portion. Each session will cost $50.00 but signing up for both will be $80.00. Additional questions can be sent to Cedar Creek boys varsity head coach Valentino Maxwell via email at [email protected].
