Two dead after fiery two-vehicle collision near Coupland

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the two deaths happened in Williamson County just south of Coupland Saturday, July 1.

DPS said the accident occurred on State Highway 95, about half a mile from Coupland Drive. DPS responded to the collision at about 2:20 in the afternoon.

The preliminary report indicates that a 1998 Chevrolet pickup, occupied by a male driver, was traveling north on SH 95. A 2016 Ford F-350, which was occupied by a female driver, was heading south on SH 95.

For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet traveled onto the wrong side of the road and struck the Ford. Both vehicles caught fire and the drivers were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash and the fire.

Names of the victims have not been released.

DPS said no other information is available at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
