Elgin’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6115 gave the town another spectacular fireworks demonstration this Independence Day, members and attendees said.
A great undertaking for the VFW planned six months in advance, the event hosted live music, vendors, food trucks and entertainment for children – culminating in a fireworks celebration at dusk worthy of Elgin’s proud. Boy Scouts from local troops 471, 472 and 473 volunteered to help with parking and ensured that everything ran smoothly. The third annual instalment saw an estimated three thousand enjoying the festivities.
“It was a great turnout,” said John Quagliani, Commander, “but I want next year to be even bigger.”
Held at 118 Old Sayer Road, VFW Post 6115’s recently renovated hall continues to be an available option for those looking to rent an event space.
