Bigger and Bastrop

More apartments to come in support of county-wide surge

BASTROP – An estimated 400 new apartments are being built in Bastrop’s Pecan Park subdivision, furthering development alongside the population boom.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the active western Bastrop neighborhood will see its several hundred new living spaces spread out across 17 buildings. Lakeway- based developer Legend Communities adds this to the park’s center, where residential and commercial establishments already reside.

A mixed-use development alongside the banks of the Colorado River, Pecan Park lies just 5 minutes away from downtown and under thirty miles from the Tesla Giga Texas factory. Bastrop’s population has grown by nearly 29% in the last five years alone, according to the US Census Bureau, which many account to Tesla’s move to the area. Apartment complexes have rapidly been erected in the surrounding district to help accommodate the influx, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

Coinciding with the similarly substantial boost in development from the Samsung Austin Semiconductor plant site coming to Taylor, this architectural surge is county-wide.

This rendition of construction is scheduled to begin development in early October of this year and carry on for two years. Public filings show the project will total around 431,000 square feet and cost upwards of $70 million.
