DALLAS – The city of Elgin proudly made its way into the 2023 MLB Draft on Tuesday, July 11 when former Wildcats baseball standout Jace Grady was selected in the 11th round by the Atlanta Braves at No. 339 overall.
Grady, a class of 2019 graduate, was a second- team all-state selection when he played at Elgin after hitting a whopping .500 from the plate as a junior. He then went on to be a standout outfielder for Dallas Baptist University and played three full seasons for the Patriots.
As a junior for Dallas Baptist in 2023, Grady put up great numbers across the board for the Patriots with a .309 batting average, 77 hits, 58 runs scored, 39 runs batted in, 25 stolen bases, 14 doubles and 12 home runs as he helped lead his team to the NCAA regional tournament.
During the 2022 season as just a sophomore, Grady was again a Second- Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection and a two-time Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger of the Week.
In 2021 during his freshman season, Grady was a Collegiate Baseball All-American selection, the most valuable player of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and named Second-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference.
His younger brother, class of 2021 Elgin graduate Keaton Grady, also played in 2023 for DBU as an infielder after transferring from the University of the Incarnate Word.
