BASTROP – Crosshairs Texas invites anyone with a curiosity for firearms or a gun-related question on their mind to attend one of their free monthly training courses.

Downtown Bastrop’s local firearm and ammunition store has been helping spread best practice and information surrounding their industry in an open and inviting discourse for the public. Typically on the third Tuesday of every month, instructor Doug Greig offers his time and expertise to those who may not necessarily have the traditional training or ease of access to information of their peers.

“Some people don’t know a lot about firearms or are just afraid to ask,” Greig said. “This here helps them overcome any fears or questions they may have in an unintimidating atmosphere.”

For those that would rather talk to a professional than dig through the internet for answers, the short two-hour classes cover anything both directly and indirectly related to guns. Topics include firearm cleaning and care, as well as non-lethal use of force and “stop-thebleed.”

While the classes have yet to be range-focused, Crosshairs Texas also offers courses that help with marksmanship, self defense, competition shooting and the basics of handguns, shotguns and rifles.

Owned by Troy Michalik, the shop charges a small $10 fee to reserve a seat, but that money will be transferred to your account after the course for in-store use. Call 512-321-4867 or visit the space at 1102 College Street to learn more.
