The two victims of the fatal car crash July 1 have been identified.
One of the drivers was former X-Games participant Tatum Sik, 32, of Grandbury. The other driver was Ysidro Garza, 59, of Elgin.
After her finishig her career motorbiking in X-Games, Sik enjoyed riding horses. Garza was said by family to be a handyman who also enjoyed playing the guitar.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred on Texas 95, about half a mile from Coupland. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the collision at about 2:20 p.m.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 1998 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Garza, was traveling north on 95. A 2016 Ford F-350, driven by Sik, was traveling south on 95.
For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet traveled on to the wrong side of the road and collided with the Ford. Both vehicles caught fire and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS said the investigation is still ongoing.
