BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team was in action on Aug. 29 as the Lady Bears had their final non-district home match against Lockhart High School. The Lady Bears kept it close but the Lady Lions ultimately pulled away in each set as Bastrop fell 18-25, 20-25 and 18-25 in three straight sets.
Bastrop continues to get great production out of junior Laicey Sullivent, who led the way on the night for the Lady Bears with a team-high eight kills. Senior captain Olivia Altamirano also continues to have a great season for Bastrop as she had seven kills and eight digs against Lockhart. Fellow senior captain Fallon Hall also helped keep the Lady Bears in the match throughout the evening as she had 16 assists and seven digs.
Under head coach Morgan Rollins, the Lady Bears have one more non-district test on the road Tuesday night at Cedar Park High School before they begin District 23-5A play. Bastrop will have two straight home matches to start the district competition: 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 hosting Pflugerville High School and 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 vs. Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.
Bastrop recently defeated Pflugerville 2-1 on Aug. 26 in a close tournament matchup that should again be an intense volleyball battle between both teams.
