BASTROP — This year’s Homecoming game was a very tough one for the Bastrop High School varsity football team as the Bears (2-1) lost their first game of the season 59-7 in a blowout defeat at Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium on Sept. 8 to Round Rock Westwood High School.
This contest was controlled from start to finish by the 6A Warriors as the Bears were outscored 28-0 in the first quarter and were down 42-0 by halftime.
The Warriors of Westwood are off to a 3-0 start following a 34-20 victory at home over Georgetown East View High School at home in the opener and another dominant 49-14 win on the road at Austin High School.
Bastrop will look to quickly put this loss in the rearview mirror as the Bears will be right back at it this week for a home matchup with Pflugerville High School in the non-district finale. In a game scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday night at Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium, the Bears will have a golden opportunity to right the ship against a Panthers team that has struggled out of the gate. Pflugerville is off to a 0-3 start following losses to Leander High School (48-28), Austin McNeil High School (44-27) and Round Rock Stony Point High School (19-0).
