GEORGETOWN – Elgin High School varsity volleyball began District 23-5A play this past week as the Lady Wildcats hit the road last Friday to take on Georgetown East View High School in the district opener for both teams.

In a very tough volleyball district that has a lot of talented teams, the Lady Wildcats struggled to keep up with the host Lady Patriots as Elgin lost to East View in three straight sets: 9-25, 10-25 and 17-25.

Following a district home match on Tuesday vs. Pflugerville Connally High School, the Lady Wildcats will continue to be tested on the road against a great Georgetown High School program at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night. Elgin will also travel at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 to take on Cedar Creek High School in another district matchup.

MCDADE LADY BULLDOGS

The McDade High School varsity volleyball team was also in action this past week as the Lady Bulldogs did not disappoint. Now with an 8-1 overall record, Mc-Dade sits at No. 14 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association rankings for 1A volleyball.

McDade made the long drive down south for two matches against Matagorda High School and won them with ease. In the first match, the Lady Bulldogs won 25-9, 25-7 and 25-8 and the second match against the Lady Stingrays had McDade victorious in straight sets 25-13, 25-8 and 25-13 to complete a perfect day.

McDade returned home on Friday night and went to work vs. IDEA Rundberg as the Lady Bulldogs again won in three straight sets: 25-17, 25-17 and 25-17.

The Lady Bulldogs will have a non-district road match at 4 p.m. on Friday against Hearne High School before returning home at 6 p.m. on Sept. 19 to host Dime Box High School, the only team that has defeated Mc-Dade this season.
