ELGIN LADY WILDCATS

This has been another tough year for Lady Wildcats volleyball but Elgin is playing very hard each match under head coach Patricia Rivers-Taylor.

Elgin had its first district home game on Sept. 12 as the Lady Wildcats hosted Pflugerville Connally High School. The Lady Wildcats fought the Lady Cougars until the very last point but Elgin lost in three straight sets: 15-25, 16-25 and fell in a back-and-forth third set 24-26. Sophomore Trinity Martinez had a major impact on this match as she led the way with six aces and had six digs vs. Connally, while Elgin sophomore Bella Navejas had five kills to lead the Lady Wildcats in attacking at the net.

Last Friday on the road at district favorite Georgetown High School, the Lady Wildcats had a rough match against a very good team and lost in straight sets: 6-25, 9-25 and 8-25.

After Elgin travels on Tuesday evening to take on Cedar Creek, the Lady Wildcats will return home at 6:30 p.m. this Friday to host Bastrop for Elgin’s Homecoming match.

CEDAR CREEK LADY EAGLES

The Lady Eagles picked up a huge road district victory on Friday night as Cedar Creek traveled to Pf lugerville Connally and won a five-set thriller.

Despite losing the first two sets 21-25 to the Lady Cougars, Cedar Creek stormed back to shock Connally and won the final three sets 25-21, 25-21 and 17-15 in a highly entertaining match.

After the Lady Eagles host Elgin on Tuesday night, Cedar Creek will travel at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening to take on Georgetown.

BASTROP LADY BEARS

The Lady Bears started off district play with a victory in three straight sets over Pflugerville High School but were defeated in two matches this past week.

On Sept. 12, Bastrop hosted a stout Pflugerville Hendrickson High School team and lost in three straight sets: 20-25, 14-25 and 15-25. The Lady Bears also traveled on Friday evening to take on Georgetown East View High School and could not get over the hump against the Lady Patriots as Bastrop also lost in straight sets: 12-25, 17-25 and the Lady Bears lost a back-andforth third set 23-25.

Bastrop will host Pflugerville Connally on Tuesday night and then travel up the road at 6:30 p.m. this Friday evening to take on the Elgin Lady Wildcats.
