As Elgin’s immediate source for countywide news and stories prepares for their relocation to a more accommodating space, operations will begin to be carried out through the new office with the start of October.

Granite Media Partners’ leadership and the Courier’s team will be working out of their fresh workspace at 111 W. Second Street, an office better tailored to the staff’s demands.

“We are looking forward to moving into the new space,” said Elgin Courier Area Editor, Jason Hennington. “We will still be downtown, so we are still accessible to the community.”

The move will take staff across the road from their current Main Street location, but will remain in the heart of the city and should position the Courier to be more efficient in its service to residents.

On Oct. 2, you may see Courier staff in both locations.

While it will be a monthlong process to complete the relocation, Senior Reporter Niko Demetriou, Office Manager Kathy Long and Circulation/ Subscription Manager Gail Schobey will slowly transition to the Second Street grounds, and any inquiring parties should be directed towards the new base if nobody is present at the current one.

“Although our location is changing, we are still focused on providing the news and covering Elgin and its surrounding communities,” added Hennington.

Elgin Courier’s management plans to hold a celebration open to the public once the move is complete, a “red carpet” affair coinciding with the city’s Hogeye Festival.
