The Elgin Chamber of Commerce hosted its Arabian Night Award Banquet Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Elgin S.P.J.S.T Hall.
During the event, awards were presented in several categories highlighting the best businesses and professionals of the year.
The Young Professional award went to the owner of Story with Video, a company that helps customers “leverage the power of video by providing a storytelling experience that is cinematic, deeply meaningful and timeless.”
The SHE Woman In Business award was presented to Jennette Shelby for her work in real estate and in the Elgin community.
Molly Alexander, coowner of the Owl Wine Bar and Home Goods, was named the Business Leader of the Year.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ed Rivers.
“(Rivers) is the epitome of the ripple effect in Elgin,” said Jodi Duron during her presentation.
Duron said Rivers is a supporter of all things Elgin and is always willing to help.
The Volunteer of the Year award was presented to Tim Schultz, who Chamber President Veronica Seever said is always ready to volunteer.
The Non Profit of the Year award was presented to Chariot, formerly known as Drive a Senior Central Texas.
The organization’s mission is to enrich lives and communities by providing transportation and socialization to non-driving seniors, helping them to age in place.
Elgin Independent School District was named the Community Partner of the year due to the collaborations with the chamber and other community organizations throughout the year.
The New Business of the Year award was presented to the Lightning Bar, while the Small Business of the Year was awarded to Smash Daddies.
Acme Brick was named Business of the Year.
As a part of the banquet, Seever discussed the success of the chamber over the past year including 47 ribbons cuttings, 11 Sip, Shop and Stroll events and 67 new chamber members.
Seever also mentioned the growth of the Chamber’s social media platforms, which was helped by 90% of the posts being about chamber members.
