BASTROP – Following a thrilling five-set victory on Sept. 15 on the road at Pflugerville Connally High School, the Cedar Creek High School varsity volleyball team defended its home floor on Sept. 19 and cruised in three straight sets over Elgin High School. The Lady Eagles picked up another much-needed District 23-5A victory over the visiting Lady Wildcats at 25-8, 25-11 and held on 25-21 to seal the deal.
Cedar Creek got a monumental showing from sophomore standout Keyaira Limuel Washington, who was outstanding on the night as she finished with a match-high 16 kills, four digs, three serves received and two assists against Elgin. Lady Eagles junior Gianna Del Bosque was also great for Cedar Creek as she tied for a match-high with 13 assists, 10 serves received and six kills. Fellow junior Alma Porter had 13 assists, junior Madden Denton had a match-high 13 digs and junior Mackenzie Collins added seven kills of her own in the victory.
Unfortunately for Cedar Creek, the Lady Eagles had to go on the road last Friday to a tough environment to take on district frontrunner Georgetown High School. Cedar Creek dropped the match in three straight sets: 4-25, 9-25 and 14-25.
Following a huge rivalry match on Tuesday night on the road at Bastrop High School, the Lady Eagles will return home at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 for another pivotal district match as Cedar Creek hosts Pflugerville High School.
