Lady Bulldogs VB keeps win streak going

MCDADE – The McDade High School varsity volleyball team continues to tally up victories as the squad held down home court on Sept. 26 with a victory over Waelder High School. In four sets, the Lady Bulldogs took care of business over the Lady Wildcats: 2512, 20-25, 25-13 and 25-20 to get the job done.

MCDADE — The McDade High School varsity volleyball team continues to tally up victories as the squad held down home court on Sept. 26 with a victory over Waelder High School. In four sets, the Lady Bulldogs took care of business over the Lady Wildcats: 2512, 20-25, 25-13 and 25-20 to get the job done.

McDade senior Steffanie Zavala led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with a match-high 10 kills and five aces to go along with seven digs, while junior Jessica Dube had eight kills of her own, and the duo of junior Lauren Glosson and freshman Leah Chavez added seven kills apiece.

Lady Bulldogs senior Zoraya Chamberlain had a team-high nine digs and 17 serves received, while sophomores Alexis Pachecho and J’Den Perry had 14 and 12 assists, respectively.

Now with a 13-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark in District 28-1A play, Mc-Dade will host Fayetteville High School on Oct. 3 before a massive home district match vs. Round Top-Carmine High School at 6 p.m. on Friday. The visiting Lady Cubs (26-7 record and 2-0 in district) are currently the No. 4 ranked team in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll for 1A with the Lady Bulldogs at No. 10 entering this week.
