The business and residential lot off of U.S. Highway 290 has already confirmed total investments of over $127 million.

Unlike other companies completely relocating to the park, Sykes Industries will be using their new facility to take some of the burden off of their seven other warehouses and plants.

Construction on the 30,000 - squa re -f oot grounds is projected to begin before the year’s end, with hopes of speeding up the plastic company’s process.

Sykes Industries has been operating for almost 20 years, crafting plastic goods that range from outdoor rain collectors to aircraft components.

The city requires a minimum commitment of jobs that companies coming to Business Park must meet, and similar to others, Sykes Industries expects to go beyond what they agreed to, according to Michael Syles, company president .

Elgin continues to develop as a destination for manufacturers, providing the space and hands needed to operate.
