BASTROP — The Cedar Creek High School varsity volleyball team continues to battle this 2023 season in 5A-District 23 as the Lady Eagles played a pair of very important district matches this past week.

Although Cedar Creek lost in three straight sets Oct. 17 at district powerhouse Georgetown High School, the Lady Eagles fought hard to stay in this match. Lady Eagles sophomore Keyaira Limuel Washington led the way for Cedar Creek with a team-high 12 kills on the night, junior Mackenzie Collins added six kills as well as four digs and junior Gracyn Hentschel had four kills and six digs of her own against Georgetown in the loss.

The Lady Eagles had a massive match Oct. 20 at home against rival Bastrop High School in a highly anticipated match. After Cedar Creek lost the first meeting Sept. 26 in a fiveset thriller, the Lady Eagles got revenge Friday night with a three-set sweep over the Lady Bears.

With the Cedar Creek win and the Bastrop loss, both teams now have a 6-7 district record heading into this week’s matches and are tied for the final No. 4 seed to make the bi-district playoffs next week. The Lady Eagles travel Tuesday to take on Pflugerville High School, while the Lady Bears will have their hands full at home with Georgetown.
