BASTROP — A new generation of attorneys have positioned themselves to be Bastrop County’s leading firm for business law.
James Ringel, 26, and Jimmy Brymer, 28, of Ringel & Brymer PLLC at 1305 Pine St. in Bastrop, are looking to fill what they believe is a gap in coverage for business owners and residents in the area.
“A big part of what’s missing, that I’ve seen, is sort of an advisory component,” said Ringel in an exclusive interview with the Courier. “A lot of these attorneys, if they do any business law, they’ll just start your business for you with your paperwork and send you out to the world on your own, or if you’re being sued, they’ll represent the business. But as far as what’s the best way to accomplish certain goals, or how to draft a contract in the best ways, I see a lot of businesses in the county that just use handwritten contracts that just lead to issues down the line.”
The duo wants to be a part of the community, active and present in the workings of their surrounding businesses.
With over 25 local businesses regularly represented, the team is already well established in the market. Clients come from all over the county, as well as the greater Central Texas area.
Ringel & Brymer believe businesses in Bastrop County are “criminally underserved,” with most attorneys taking on clients as side projects.
They feel that because the area is growing at such a rapid rate, there is a need and space in the market for a team like themselves to be the “goto” attorneys for business law.
“We’re willing to meet with the business community and talk with them and see what is needed, and how we can help effectuate them through the legal process,” said Ringel.
“A lot of these attorneys are reactive instead of being proactive, and that’s where me and Jim are going to make a difference. Advisory counseling, where we can make sure that we could help streamline things and make it a more business friendly county, where people will be dealing with each other on a much better basis.”
Ringel & Brymer believe the court system in Bastrop County is far better than that of Travis County, where the market for counseling in Austin is oversaturated, and they can provide “small firm service, with big firm results,” as their motto states.
There are currently only about 25 other attorneys in the area, and the team expects up to 10 of them to retire in the upcoming years.
The two met when Ringel was leaving his position at the Law Office of Derek Van Gilder, and Brymer was set to be his replacement. As Ringel was getting ready to start his own office, the duo became closer, realized their goals aligned and saw an opportunity in Bastrop.
Ringel & Brymer want to grow and plan to scale accordingly, expanding as much as they can without losing their small firm feel.
