MCDADE — A history-making McDade High School varsity volleyball team under Head Coach Aaron Hallford was honored as the Lady Bulldogs were recognized in the 1A-District 28 all-district team.
Taking home the top honor for McDade was freshman Leah Chavez, who was selected as the 1A-District 28 Newcomer of the Year award winner. Chavez was also a first-team all-district selection alongside Lady Bulldogs junior teammates Lauren Glosson and Jessica Dube.
McDade senior Steffanie Zavala was named a second-team selection with sophomore Alexis Pacheco, while senior Zoraya Chamberlain and junior Kelsey Dube were named honorable mentions for the Lady Bulldogs.
Selected as academic all-district picks were Chavez, Chamberlain, Jessica Dube, Kelsey Dube, sophomore Jana Dube, sophomore J’Den Perry and sophomore Ashlyn Carpenter.
Hallford led this McDade Lady Bulldogs squad to a 15-6 overall record, the best in program history and the school’s first-ever berth in the 1A bi-district playoffs. The foundation has been set for more success in McDade’s future as this Lady Bulldogs team will return many key players for the 2024 season.
