BASTROP — The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team bounced back from Friday night’s season-opening 62-43 loss at Manor High School in a huge way Saturday afternoon as the Eagles thrashed Austin Eastside Early College High School 95-45 at home.
It was a dominant effort for the Eagles over the Panthers of Eastside as Cedar Creek was led by the dynamic duo of junior Kenji Franklin and senior Robert Conrad.
To lead all scorers, Franklin could not be stopped by Eastside as he exploded for a gamehigh 30 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Conrad was also constantly attacking the basket for the Eagles as he went off for 28 points to help propel his team to a 50-point triumph over Eastside.
Eagles junior Phineas Koplin also had a solid game against Eastside with nine points, eight rebounds, three steals, two assists and one blocked shot.
After Cedar Creek travels Nov. 14 for a non-district road game against Del Valle High School, the Eagles will compete Nov. 16-18 at the Austin High School Tournament as the Eagles have tournament games on the schedule Nov. 16 beginning with Round Rock High School and San Antonio Lanier High School. The Eagles will have their next home game Nov. 21 as Cedar Creek hosts Austin Akins High School.
