After the shopping center mayhem of Black Friday winds down, local vendors and artisans will be offering up their own deals for anyone that may want to grab an extra Christmas gift or two at a discount.

Shop Small Saturday is an added day of nationwide sales, promoted by American Express, focused on supporting locally owned businesses.

Elgin’s historic downtown is by no means void of quality wares or talent. Shops, parlors, cafes, restaurants and studios across Main Street will all be joining in on the savings with localized deals and offers, Nov. 25.

Newbo Vintage will have 20% off of everything in shop, the Lions Club Thrift Shop is marking everything Christmas-related down to half price, the collection of items at Dorothy’s Fine Jewelry will be 25% off and nearly 20 other downtown locations will be offering deals of their own.

The Elgin Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Board and Economic Development Program will also be hosting a savings scavenger hunt. Anyone who can find Priscilla, the group’s big, pink mascot pig, can enter to win special prizes and gift certificates. Look for blue Shop Small bags at participating businesses, find Priscilla and fill out entry forms to join the lottery.

A full list of participating vendors can be found at https://www.elgintexas.gov/583/Shop-Small-Saturday.
