BASTROP — The Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team under head coach Morgan Rollins was recently honored with 5A-District 23 all-district awards following the 2023 season.

As a senior who made a major impact throughout the year, Lady Bears senior Olivia Altamirano was named as a first-team all-district selection. Altamirano finished the season with a team-high 325 kills, 260 digs, 39 aces served and 25 blocks at the net.

Selected as second-team all-district was Bastrop junior Laicey Sullivent, who had a very strong year for the Lady Bears with 246 kills and 233 digs.

All-district honorable mentions for the Lady Bears were senior Alison Boswell, senior Fallon Hall and sophomore Abby Thomas. Boswell had 459 digs this season as the team’s libero, Hall had 660 assists as well as 155 digs as the Lady Bears’ setter and Thomas was all over the court for Bastrop as just a sophomore player on varsity.

Although the Lady Bears just barely missed out on a playoff spot with an 18-24 overall record and a 6-8 mark in district play, this Bastrop program should continue to get better for the 2024 season with a lot of returning players on the roster and more talent moving up from sub-varsity.
