BASTROP — The Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center has announced the dates for this year’s Lost Pines Historic Homes Symposium.

The two-day-long affair will take place Dec. 8 and 9, featuring presentations from distinguished experts in historic home restoration, exclusive building tours and “The Rendezvous,” a captivating holiday dinner and dance, according to event organizers.

“This symposium promises to be a unique opportunity for enthusiasts of history, architecture and interior design to gain insights and explore the rich heritage of Bastrop’s historic homes,” said Nicole DeGuzman, executive director of the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center.

The lineup for the first day includes four speakers, each sharing their unique expertise and understanding of legacy home preservation, restoration and renovation. Mary Bledsoe is an acclaimed figure within the interior design landscape, according to museum representatives, bringing with her a deep technical background in construction and detailing.

Clint Hille will cover his learnings as a hands-on supervisory conservator of historic homes, going into the details of different restoration practices.

Candace and John Volz, owners of Volz & Associates and professionals, will close out the panel in the renewing of traditions in American architecture.

Attendees will have the opportunity to further deepen their knowledge with one-onone conversations with the experts during a catered lunch, courtesy of local farm-to-table restaurant, The Storehouse.

Following lunch, the Volz will guide participants through the meticulous renovation of the Ancient Oaks home on the Wiley Hill Homestead, a landmark for local architectural history.

The first day culminates with its annual gala dinner and dance, held in the Bastrop Convention Center.

Day two of the symposium will provide an overview of the Holiday Homes Tour, a popular and cherished Bastrop tradition, according to those who have attended before. Robbie Sanders, author of “Historic Homes of Bastrop,” will lead the tour, followed by a more indepth visit through the museum, focusing on the homes and their original owners.

“Don’t miss out on this extraordinary opportunity to learn from the experts, explore historic homes and connect with fellow enthusiasts,” added Deguzman.
