Lady Bulldogs knock off New Tech

MCDADE – The McDade High School girls varsity basketball team held its ground at home Tuesday, Nov. 28 as the 1A Lady Bulldogs defeated 4A Manor New Tech High School by a score of 42-40 in a crucial win over a large school squad.

MCDADE — The McDade High School girls varsity basketball team held its ground at home Tuesday, Nov. 28 as the 1A Lady Bulldogs defeated 4A Manor New Tech High School by a score of 42-40 in a crucial win over a large school squad.

Like the Lady Bulldogs have been doing so far early in this 2023-24 regular season, McDade played outstanding team defense against Manor New Tech and had 21 steals that helped them keep the Lady Titans’ offense in check downthestretchofthegame.

In the victory, McDade sophomore Alexis Pacheco had a team-high 10 points to go along with seven steals, four assists and two blocked shots. Lady Bulldogs senior Steffanie Zavala had nine points with two three-pointers, six rebounds, five steals and two assists.

McDade junior Lauren Glosson had seven points and four assists, while fellow junior Kelsey Dube did it all with seven points, a gamehigh 13 rebounds, four steals and three assists in the win over the Lady Titans.

After McDade (4-1 overall record) opens 1A-District 29 play Tuesday night on the road against the Lady Trojans of Calvert High School, the Lady Bulldogs will return home Dec. 12 for a home game hosting the Lady Panthers of Richards High School.
