BASTROP — The Cedar Creek High School girls varsity basketball under Head Coach Erica Cray team continued 5A-District 23 play this past week as the Lady Eagles traveled Dec. 12 to take on Pflugerville High School and Friday visited Georgetown East View High School.
Despite a valiant comeback attempt on the road against Pflugerville, the Lady Eagles’ second-half rally came up just short in a 50-44 defeat to the Lady Panthers.
In the hard-fought loss to Pflugerville, the Lady Eagles were again led by sophomore standout Keyaira Limuel Washington with 24 points on 11-of-22 shooting, eight blocked shots, two rebounds, two steals and one assist. Cedar Creek junior Elisah Sanchez also scored in double figures with 11 points and four steals, while sophomore Jaslene Flores had nine points with a trio of three-pointers, two rebounds and two steals.
The Lady Eagles also went on the road Dec. 15 to Georgetown and were defeated 58-31 by the Lady Patriots of East View. Cedar Creek played back-and-forth in the first half against East View but the Lady Patriots’ offense got rolling in the second half to put the game out of reach.
After Cedar Creek plays another district game Thursday night at home versus Pflugerville Hendrickson High School, the Lady Eagles will compete Dec. 26-28 at the Bastrop Invitational tournament and will then play host Jan. 5 to district foe Pflugerville Connally High School.
