The Elgin Juneteenth Organization partnered with the Elgin Police Department and Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office for this year’s holiday “Shop with a Cop” event.

The shopping spree was a new replacement, filling in for the Blue Santa toy collection typically organized in the holiday season.

Local police officers gathered with Elgin’s youth in the city’s Walmart, spending donated gift cards and fostering relationships that will last throughout the children’s time in Elgin.

The organization gives special thanks to the EPD staff, Bastrop County troopers, Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Reverand Steven Ward, Elgin Funeral Home and sponsors Joshua and Jamie Hausladen, KJS Commercial LLC and Duane Jennings.

A community effort, the groups were able to make the season a little bit brighter for many of the growing Elginites.
