BASTROP — The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office released details surrounding the discovery of a body last week.

The office is currently working on an apparent drowning off Rosanky Cattle Company Road.

Workers discovered the body floating in a large tank on ranch property, Jan. 4, around 4 p.m., according to Sheriff Maurice Cook.

“At this time, there is no evidence of foul play,” added Cook in the release.

The victim is being sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for forensic examination to determine the cause of death.

The victim is a male that remained in the water for several days, according to the Sheriff. The office has made tentative identification but has not yet verified the identity or released the victim’s name.

“The Facebook posts seem to want to connect this incident to a report we received last week of a body being reported beside the road in close proximity,” said Cook.

There was no other body or connection to this event, it was an individual lying beside the road who got up and walked off, according to the office.

There is no known danger to the public regarding the current apparent drowning. Details concerning how the body got into the tank are subject to investigation, added Cook.
