After getting through a winter weather advisory and the coldest days of the season so far, according to the national weather service, sunny days are set to relieve the risk of icy roads, but temperatures will remain low.
Bastrop County’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day march was cancelled due to hazardous weather warnings, and warm weather shelters opened around town to help those in need amidst the below 20-degree temperatures this past weekend.
The worst appears to be behind the city, though, as lows heading into the end of the week will remain above 25 degrees, with a high of 65 Thursday and 48 Friday. While temperatures will go below freezing levels during night hours, the chance of precipitation is low.
The sun should remain out over the weekend, keeping temperatures above 31 degrees with a high of 50 Sunday, and a 20% chance of showers.
Wind chill may remain a factor, as the gusts that reached around 20-mile-per-hour Monday will continue through the end of the week, according to the report for Bastrop County.
