The Elgin High School girls varsity basketball team under Head Coach Chris Tibbets had 5A-District 23 action this past week as the Lady Wildcats traveled to take on Pflugerville High School and hosted Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.
Following a two-game win streak in which the Lady Wildcats knocked off Cedar Creek High School and Bastrop High School, Elgin hit the road Jan. 17 against the Pflugerville Lady Panthers and fell 48-28.
Elgin was led by sophomore Trinity Martinez as she finished with a team-high 14 points on four made three-pointers, three rebounds and one steal. Lady Wildcats fellow sophomore Sharmonique Williams also scored in double figures against Pflugerville with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals while senior Jaylan Roberson had five steals, five rebounds and three points.
Following a lopsided 85-24 loss Friday night versus the district powerhouse Hendrickson Lady Hawks, the Lady Wildcats (9-19 overall, 2-7 in district) have a district road game scheduled for Jan. 23 at Georgetown East View High School and will return home Friday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. to host Pf lugerville Connally High School.
