BASTROP — The Lost Pines Art Center is hosting a special Mardi Gras edition of Art After Dark in Bastrop. Enjoy the Featured Artist Show by Marie Blazek, the Members’ Showcase and the opening of the “L’esprit de la Louisiane” exhibition (The Spirit of Louisiana).

Blues Man Todd Roth of Comin’ Up Muddy will play a set at 6 p.m., and the event includes complimentary refreshments. Admission is free. For more information, call 512-321-8055.

LITTLE HIKES 2024

BASTROP—Themonthly Little Hike will be the second Friday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. for birding for beginners in different parks, trails and sweet spots around Bastrop County in Central Texas. A Little Hike is a gentle morning birdwatching hike with a focus on photography. The participants see how many birds can be documented and added to eBird while hiking. MARDI GRAS AT THE BREWERY

SMITHVILLE — Celebrate Mardi Gras at Smithville Brewing Company, 661 NW Loop 230 in Smithville with po’boys, beignets, NOLA slushies and fun for the whole family. Festive food, games and beads will be available starting at 4 p.m. with live music by Shop Dawgs from 6 to 9 p.m.

DEPOT MUSEUM CELEBRATES BLACK HISORY

ELGIN — Deport Museum welcomes all to the permanent Elgin Black History exhibit. A photo collection covers athletics, music, teachers, business owners and vintage photos. Groups are welcome.
