BASTROP — The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team picked up two huge 5A-District 23 victories this past week at home versus Pflugerville Hendrickson High School and on the road at Georgetown East View High School.
CEDAR CREEK EAGLES 56, HENDRICKSON HAWKS 54
In an improbable fourth-quarter comeback, the Eagles used an 18-0 run down the stretch of regulation to stun the visiting Hawks with a 56-54 win. Hendrickson scored the opening points of the fourth quarter and Cedar Creek came to life on both offense and defense to come back.
Cedar Creek senior standout Robert Conrad had a team-high 17 points to help propel his team to victory, while junior Kenji Franklin added 15 points and nine rebounds.
The Eagles also got a major impact from senior Micah McDonald with eight points to go along with five rebounds and two blocked shots, junior Braydon Adams with eight points on two three-pointers made and senior Leland Washington with eight points on a pair of treys, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists.
CEDAR CREEK EAGLES 52, EAST VIEW PATRIOTS 44
Following the thrilling win, the Eagles also handled business on the road with a 52-44 victory over the East View Patriots. Conrad again led the way for Cedar Creek with a teamhigh 26 points, four three-pointers made, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks while Franklin had 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Cedar Creek (21-8 overall, 6-3 district record) under Head Coach Valentino Maxwell is scheduled Jan. 30 to host Pflugerville Connally High School and will be on the road Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. to take on Elgin High School.
